Deutsche Lufthansa is set to endure more strikes this week as ground staff members are called to walk out over a wage disagreement. The Verdi trade union has urged Lufthansa's ground workers in several key cities to go on strike, impacting a large number of passengers.

Disproportionate Impact on Passengers and Employees

The proposed 35-hour strike comes despite what Lufthansa considers a significantly improved offer, which includes a pay increase of approximately 10% over the next year and inflation adjustment bonuses of 3,000 euros. The airline's Chief Human Resources Officer emphasizes the desire for a swift resolution through constructive negotiations at the table.

Ongoing Disagreements

Lufthansa has been facing challenges with trade unions regarding pay agreements for an extended period. Previous walkouts by both ground staff and pilots have led to flight cancellations in recent times. Despite the latest offer from Lufthansa, Verdi is pushing for a higher salary increase of 12.5%, highlighting disparities between ground workers and other employees within the company.

Looking Ahead

Negotiations are set to continue in the coming days, with hopes of reaching a mutual agreement to avoid further disruptions for passengers and employees alike.
